Former Liverpool youngster, George Johnston, who is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic is currently attracting a lot of interest from League One outfits Portsmouth and Ipswich Town who both want to snap up the young player ahead of the upcoming season. Football Insider, the source of the report, also added that Wigan would be more than willing to keep hold of the player who has won the hearts of the fan and everyone at the club since sealing his loan move there.

Peterborough secured a 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic thanks to two late goals from striker Johnson Clarke-Harris. The win made it a sixth on the bounce for Peterborough who extended their lead at the top of the League One table. Aasgaard was the scorer for Wigan who opened the scoring after 72 minutes of football and wasted chances.

Wigan Athletic’s Spanish bidders are prepared to stay patient in their bid to take control of the club. The Greater Manchester outfit were one of the in-form teams during the backend of the 2019/2020 Championship season, but were still relegated after the final matchday due to the 12-point deduction for entering administration.
Their return to League One has been far from fruitful after the exodus of key players over the summer and they are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with just eight points, five adrift of safety. The Spanish investors placed their bid to buy Wigan more than two months ago, but the EFL have yet to give the green light for them to takeover. (more…)

The club have a total number of seven players who will be out of contract in the next week, and three of those seven have already sealed moves away from the club. The club’s administrators are still currently in the hunt for prospective buyers as the club has been put up for sale, but it still does not hinder the departures that have already taken place, and the ones that are expected to still happen.

League One club Wigan Athletic have been in the relegation zone for the majority of this season as they have paid the price for a poor start to the season until the last two games. Wigan Athletic have shown signs of revival in the last two games against Sunderland and Accrington Stanley in the third tier of club football in England.Wigan Athletic would be hoping to continue that revival ahead of the home clash with Rochdale. A win over Rochdale will make it three victories on the trot for the former FA Cup champions who suffered relegation from the English Championship at the end of the last campaign.

Nigerian footballer Leon Balogun has left Wigan Athletic by leaving a heartfelt message for the club as well as for Brighton. He joined the Brighton and Hove from the Bundesliga side Mainz 05 for a two year deal. But in the club he was only given less playing time as he was behind Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy in the regular teamand he has only played in eight matches for the club.

Wigan Athletic captain Sam Morsy has described Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne as the best midfielder in the world. The Egypt international has not come face-to-face with the Belgian at club level but he has played against him in an international friendly which was scheduled before the 2018 World Cup final.
