Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has said that anxiety has been one of their major worries this season, while it has also been responsible for the poor performances of the team in the last few matches.
Wigan Athletic claimed a significant win over Bolton Wanderers at the start of February, but since then, they have been able to get only three points on the board.
There have been many draws along the way, which Roberto Martinez reckons is mainly due to the anxiety of the team. On the bright side, Martinez can take heart from the fact that Wigan Athletic have lost only one match in the last six.
They will need this form going into this weekend because they will be facing Liverpool. Even though this may sound like a daunting task, Liverpool come on the back of a 3-2 defeat at QPR in the midweek match. They are likely to be deflated as a result of this victory, and Wigan Athletic can take advantage of this if they are in the right mood. The latest football betting odds online give Wiagna 1 in 15 chance of winning at Anfield though.
Wigan are currently in the 19th position in the table, but they will be able to climb above Bolton in the table with a win over Liverpool during the weekend. Roberto Martinez said that the 1-1 draw with both the Norwich and West Brom in the last two matches clearly demonstrate the anxiety of the team.
“I have mixed feelings. I think we have been very good, if not perfect, in many areas of our performances, but if you don’t get the three points – because football is about winning games – you cannot have that satisfaction, or feel the real football happiness that you should have after a very good performance,” Martinez said regarding the last two matches against West Brom and Norwich.
