League One club Wigan Athletic have been in the relegation zone for the majority of this season as they have paid the price for a poor start to the season until the last two games. Wigan Athletic have shown signs of revival in the last two games against Sunderland and Accrington Stanley in the third tier of club football in England.Wigan Athletic would be hoping to continue that revival ahead of the home clash with Rochdale. A win over Rochdale will make it three victories on the trot for the former FA Cup champions who suffered relegation from the English Championship at the end of the last campaign.
The two wins recorded from the last two games have taken Wigan Athletic closer to the places outside the relegation zone. As things stand, Wigan Athletic arenow two points away from final safe place on the league standings after the Latics recorded six points from the last two games. Wigan Athletic are second from bottom on the league table with 14 points from 16 games, while Swindon Town, who occupy the last safe place have played one game more than the Latics with two more points.
Ahead of the game with Rochdale on Tuesday night in what’s a week 18 League One clash, Wigan Athletic are three places below their opponents who have two points more than them. The two teams have played the same number of league games this season. A win for Wigan Athletic at home to Rochdale will take them out of the relegation zone. The Latics have hit form at the right time with
games coming thick and fast in this December period. Wigan Athletic started the season with the hope of securing a return back to the Championship but that’s a long way off at the moment.
