Wigan Athletic are currently five points off the relegation places in the Championship with 14 games to go. The club recently took a break in the weekend with no fixture to play and made a warm-weather trip to the middle east for a training camp.
The club is unbeaten in its last three matches picking up 5 points in the process which has seen the club pull away from its relegation rivals. The Dubai trip was planned as a resort for the team to build team chemistry ahead of the crucial period of the season.
Wigan’s boss Paul Cook has spoken in recent days on the quality of the squad available at his disposal. According to Cook, the team is close to full strength as injured players have begun training with the first team and close to returning to the fold. He also admitted that he is under no-pressure to thrust the players into the first team and risk them getting injured.
Cook is also optimistic about the chances of the club escaping the drop and believes that the recent run of results bodes well for the future.
Wigan faced Chinese League Champions in a friendly in Dubai which finished 4-3 in favour of the championship side. They next face bottom club Ipswich Town at the DW Stadium on Saturday as they look to pick 3 valuable points.
